About

Bellydance.org.uk (formerly wiggle.org.uk) is a not-for-profit web site dedicated to people who want to learn how to bellydance. We aim to ...

  • help new people (who live anywhere in the UK) to make contact with a local teacher so they can learn the skills of bellydance
  • help dancers who are already learning by putting them in touch with more advanced workshops and social events which will allow them to develop their skills.

You won't find any commercial adverts on this site to interfere with your browsing, no pop-ups, or other annoying elements. We've also designed it to be a frame-free site so that everybody can use it - whatever your browser. We aim to make this site suitable for all ages and people from all cultures - you will not find more flesh exposed here than you would see on Scarborough beach in August!

So, if you are someone who wants to learn more about bellydance, get browsing. First you will need to visit the classes page, and find a class near you. Later you might want to look at the Haflas page (bellydance parties) or the Workshop page to see if there's an event where you can learn from other teachers.

Please consider contributing to our web site. As a teacher you can advertise your classes and events on here. There's no charge for this service, we are a not-for-profit site, but remember you have to tell us about your events for this to happen. We do not publish information about events unless asked by the organisers to do so, even if we know about them from other sources. For example we get lots of emails from people who are passing on information they have heard about events, but who are not the organisers. We do not use these as a source of material for the site.

If you have anything you would like to contribute to the site then please let us know. The site is updated regularly and your information will be published as promptly as possible. We are known to the major search engines and we're told that our site usually turns up in the first few sites related to Bellydance in the UK.

  • Classes - register on the site and then manage your own information about your classes. The forms are easy to complete, just make sure you know all the details about your class before you start
  • Haflas - use the links on the site to tell us the date, location, price and the organising body - with a contact point for information. Also if anything special is to happen like a visiting celebrity, live drummers, or a souk
  • Workshops - tell us the date, teacher, location, price and organising body - with a contact point for information. The level of the workshop (open, beginners, improvers, etc.) must be clearly described

You can send us information by using the email addresses which are at the bottom of each page.

We also welcome comments and ideas about how the site could be developed for the future. We intend to stick to supporting the two groups of people we mentioned at the start of this page - if you're our customer then we would love to know what you want.

It looks like your using internet explorer 6 - this is a bit of a problem since our website unfortunately no longer supports it due to the security issues of that software.

You really should upgrade as soon as possible to either the latest version of internet explorer or try out one of the many alternative browsers that exist.

We know that some people don't have a choice in the matter, so this error message appears just once for each session that you try to access the website however we cannot guarantee that the website will work properly.

If you are unable to ugrade your browser then please click the close button at the bottom right and we wont pester you again.
